Building a French work Bench
For over 15 years my workbench had served me well! 36″ x 72″ but only 1/2″ thick Ply and mounted on an old government issue metal desk top, atop a rickety steel frame which I braced using 2″ thick kitchen counter top.
The way the top was attached to the frame meant it had no work-holding ability apart from clamps at the very edge. At one point I thought of adding a skirt around the edge but never got around to it. The work table in its later life became the the out-feed table for my table saw.
So, time for a new bench one that is based on an 18th Century design.
