Hi Michael
I identify with your article “Basic hand -cut joints” especially the woodwork teacher takes me back.
Ive used pocket screw constuction excellent, however the UK dont seem to offaye with it, never heard of them!
It seems to be an American idea, very few suppliers Trend and krieg only.
I have Parkinsons so im trying my hand at woodwork, because its very theraputic.
Thankyou Patrick Kilduff
Patrick, Thanks for taking the time to write.
There are many ways to connect wood – and pocket screws are a quick and dirty method – (instant joint) – I have used Kreg – also UJK makes a jig – available through Axminster.co.uk they are sometimes referred to as pocket hole.
If you do get one – make sure that you only use pocket hole screws – don’t be tempted to use sheetrock screws – they will fail.
I build a custom chimney cabinet with PS that went together very well.
build is here : https://sawdustandwoodchips.com/kitchen-chimney-cabinet/
Good luck with your hand tool work.
all the very best
Michael
